Hello. All pictures are taken with a 6.0 megapixel camera so sorry if bad quality. Here are some rubbish found around Tampines.
The problem with this here is that:
A strong wind could blow (especially since the weather nowadays are VERY windy) and cause it to fall onto the road. Unsuspecting motorcyclists could run over it and being inexperienced, could topple the bike over.Solution: Hold daily checks around the neighbourhood for any litter lingering around roads. eg: broken branchesThe cause: Growing trees
This photo was taken during a bus trip. As you can see, there is a rubbish bin located at the top centre of the picture. Yet, the problem of littering still remains.
Solution: You could put a lid over the rubbish bin. Also, because of this, rain water will not seep into the bin, making it harder to dispense the plastic bag and making the breeding of mosquitos easier.
The cause: Human Activities
As you can see, this litter is on the grass. If we leave them here for a few years, they will biodegrade into the soil, making the soil unhealthy and might even cause water to seep through.Solutions: Hold weekly/monthly 'check-ups' of the environment around Tampines. The cause: Human Activities
This picture was of a drain. As you can see, there is rubbish in the drains. Because the drains are used to collect water, the purpose of a drain is destroyed just because of that plastic. It also causes drains to be clogged and on a particularly rainy day, drains would not be able to support all the water going down the drains. How to challenge this issue?
Very simple. Just spread the word that the government is giving out so-called incentives if you do not litter.
The cause: Human Activities
As shown, this is a rubbish bin. However, if you will notice, there is rubbish at the side. This is a problem commonly found. How to tackle this problem:
Put up slogans saying 'dispense rubbish properly'.The cause: Human Activities
You may see it only as a pile of sand. However, take a closer look.
This sand and rubble is very common in construction sites. But once the construction is done, sometimes, they do not clear up this rubble and that is one of the reasons why we have to get so much imported sand.Tackling this problem: Collect the rubble and stone after use for construction site use.The cause: Construction SitesSome more will be posted soon. Iffah :)
